Automatic Irrigation System – AIS
By: Utkarsh
Hello everyone, today I will be discussing about one of my
project which is as simple as thinking but is useful too. As days are passing
by, water scarcity and lowering of water resources are increasing, that means
we, human beings are not retaining sustainable development and we are blindly
converting the useful resources into useless.
Many of you would know, that I had changed my school, which
is like interrupting my niche, but now, I am trying to make this new
environment my niche, which is equivalent to impossible, however, I had made
some friends, and now one of my classmate from X also had arrived in the same
school but is floating in different stream.
So, let us come on the topic, for which I am writing this
article. I joined the school late in comparison to previous children and so I
am running half a month behind the syllabus. Even I can’t believe that how had
I not completed my pending works even after spending holidays of more than a
month, which was more than enough for any pending work.
In the month of May, our chemistry teacher told us to make
something related to science, like a project! Which I had never tried before,
though he suggested us to make a team but again, with whom should I make my
team? And after that day, no team was either made nor I joined any of them. Sir
had told us to make something which is useful in today’s world, where the
global warming is continuously increasing.
This hint with the combination of watering the plants at
every evening as per the order of my mother produced an amazing idea, but the
problem did not stopped here. This new idea was completely of Computer-Science.
Though I am still confused, whether to submit this or not but is very useful
for watering the plants or even a large field full of plants and trees.
I made Automated Irrigation System using single on-board
computer called, arduino. I programmed it on the basis of C/C++. Tried and
tested too. Something which makes me laugh on my project is that, I can see physics
in circuits to electricity and magnetic effect in SSR-Relay, nothing else
related to Science. May be, the water is part of chemistry as it is the
combination of 2 atoms of Hydrogen and 1 atom of Oxygen. This single board
computer is capable of converting 12V DC to usable 5V DC.
The
programming of the AIS is given below:
